Recipes to enjoy rice

Rice is a perfect ingredient for use during the tough economic times. They can stretch their recipes of meat and can be used for everything from breakfast to dinner or dinner and anything between. For a healthy option use rice, especially if you are a diabetic. These recipes are for an entry of a boat and a plate of rice and spinach. Ham ham Jambalaya is also good with some shrimp in the last minutes of cooking, if you like shrimp. Green rice combines spinach and rice with the mixture of ranch dressing.


1 slice of large, thick, ham cubes
1 lb hot smoked, cut ham and quartered sectors
1 tablespoon canola or olive oil
1 onion, chopped
3 ribs celery, diced
1 medium green bell pepper, diced
3 green, chopped onions
chopped fresh parsley
3 cans of diced tomatoes
2 cups uncooked rice
Salt
pinch of thyme
2 leaves of laurel


Heat oil in a large, heavy pot (cast iron works great). Add ham and sausages and cook, stirring, until they are golden. Add the onion, celery, peppers, green onions and parsley. Cook until vegetables are tender crisp. Drain any excess fat; Add the tomatoes and cook until the mixture is heated through and begins to boil. Add the rice, salt, thyme and Bay leaves. Cook, uncovered, for 30 minutes, turning from time to time with a fork. Cover and let Cook for an hour, stirring with a fork from time to time so that the mixture does not stick and burn. Add water in small quantities, as necessary, but the mixture should cook almost dry. If you want to add shrimp, do not add up to the last minute, so do not be sobrecocinar.


GREEN RICE


1 package (10 oz) frozen chopped spinach
1 cup uncooked long grain rice
2 cups of water
mixture of 1/2 pkg aderezo dry Ranch
lemon juice 2 tablespoons
2 tablespoons margarine


Thaw frozen spinach. Combine the rice and water in a medium saucepan. Add the spinach, thawed for rice and water. Cook the mixture over medium high heat until it comes to a boil. Reduce the heat in the middle and boil for 20 minutes or until rice is tender. Remove the Pan from heat and add the mixture of ranch dressing, lemon juice and margarine. Stir until well combined.
